I use LinkedIn for making connections and scrolling posted content.  I have used it for job searches in the past. I occasionally use Reddit if I have a specific question that I am seeking an answer for.  I rarely use X, never tried Threads, and am not a Quora fan.

    Thanks @DearJenniferPinder!

    @Jennifer Pinder

Would you say you like to explore new tech, or in the middle of the curve like everyone else? Or do you lag a little behind until a lot of people start mentioning that a particular tech is worth checking out?

This is the reason for my Q, I am curious - do many or not? LinkedIn, yes we all know, but the rest, I dunno...

    With appreciation,

    ilya i.

I use LinkedIn for Connections but avoid looking at it as it has become too much of a distraction. None of the others I use. I am a member of the AICPA for the sole purpose of maintaining my CPA designation.

    Thanks @David Belnap !

    Thanks @David Belnap !

So, is it fair to say that you do not lean much into social media in general, professionally at least? I can see that for senior professionals with demanding positions and also who may not be client facing or something that may benefit from aggressive networking. I like that. Plus, some people, like myself, get burned out w social media and have to take a step back once in awhile, for weeks, months, or more. Ebbs and flows, right?

Is this platform a lot of your social networking?

It too, takes up time here.

    Tnx bud!

    ilya

I check my personal Facebook page about once a quarter at best. Professionally, I am almost non-existent on social media. I didn't have a professional website until last year. I simply do not have the time to manage all the various social media platforms. I also feel that they are superficial and do not provide meaningful relationships. This is why I have a personal policy that I need to have a virtual or in-person 1:1 with someone prior to accepting their connection request. This includes LinkedIn, IMA, BNI, and Alignable. I don't consider posting here to be social, but more sharing advice and recommendations with others. My behavior is changing slowly and my company will become more visible over time as it grows. I will not be the one posting, however. I'll hire someone to handle it for me.

Thanks @David Belnap !                             (My @ function does not work for the most part.)

You have a tight, trusted circle, secure. I like that approach, especially if you don't want too many distractions and have enough as is, as you say____. Thats a great policy.

Also, being amendable, and seeing change and being flexible.

Is it BNI.com? Even if not, I just discovered something new regardless . . . LOL

    Is it Alignable.com?

I can see how different types of engagements would warrant a different approach to "connecting".
