Welcome Emerging Leaders

Thank you for being a part of this piloted program!

Our goal is for this to be an interactive community where you can post questions, share best practices and resources on how to become a better leader. Your active participation in this community will help you to grow as leaders throughout the next year we have together. 

·        We will post a calendar that will help guide you on the courses you should be taking for the month to complete the program within one year.

·        Every 3^rd Thursday of the month we will post a helpful resource for open discussion. Next month's discussion – hosted by our own Dean of the Leadership Academy, Lisa Book, will be about communication skills, highlighting Listening Skills in particular. The courses you should complete before the 8/17 post are:

·        Communicating in the 21^st Century

·        Listening Skills

·        We hope you will join us every quarter on the 3^rd Wednesday of the month (August, December, and March) at 8:00 PM Eastern when we will have a 30-minute Leadership Chat on Zoom with a leader from IMA.  The speaker will offer their thoughts on leadership topics. 

The date will be forthcoming.

You may have noticed already that a package of courses has been added to your enrollments on the IMA website under continuing education.  These courses will help you in your journey to become a stronger leader.  Each month we will alert you here which courses will be beneficial to the following months discussion post.

We welcome your feedback at any time on how to make this the best possible learning experience.

As Dean of IMA Leadership Academy (IMALA), I wanted to extend a warm welcome to our inaugural group of Emerging Leaders! I am very excited to be a part of this journey with all of you.

I want to extend a special thanks to two of my IMALA colleagues that are also participating in this forum, past IMALA Deans David Elrod and Pem Smith. They have both been an integral part of putting this program together and you'll likely see them both chime in from time to time. Also, thanks to Associate Dean Moataz Gad for his support.

As Tara mentioned, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or feedback at any time. I look forward to hearing more from you throughout the year in our community discussions so we can all "emerge" as better leaders from the experience!
