We're forming a new Digital Security Volunteer Advisory Group, and we're looking for IMA members who can bring real-world digital security and risk experience into the conversation as we navigate one of the most significant technology transformations in IMA's history.
WHAT THE ADVISORY GROUP DOES
This group serves as a practitioner sounding board for IMA's technology and security leadership. Members provide independent perspective on how we're thinking about digital risk - not as a governance or decision-making body, but as experienced voices who help us ask better questions and stress-test our assumptions.
Digital security, as we define it, spans the full spectrum of risk that comes with running and modernizing a technology-dependent organization. That includes:
• Cybersecurity - protecting systems and networks from external threats, attacks, and unauthorized access
• Data integrity & protection - ensuring member and organizational data is accurate, complete, and handled in accordance with privacy obligations
• Vendor and third-party risk - managing the security posture of the partners and platforms we rely on
• Identity and access management - controlling who can access what, and under what conditions
• Operational resilience - maintaining the ability to detect, respond to, and recover from disruptions
• Compliance and governance - aligning our practices with relevant frameworks and regulatory expectations (SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, and similar)
This is a volunteer role with a meaningful but manageable time commitment. Advisory Group members are not involved in implementing controls or conducting audits - their role is strictly advisory, which means the value is in your perspective, not your bandwidth.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal Advisory Group member brings some combination of the following:
• Active or recent experience in digital security, information security, or technology risk - at a practitioner or leadership level
• Hands-on familiarity with one or more of the digital security domains listed above
• Experience advising organizations through technology transitions, platform migrations, or digital transformation
• Independence from IMA's current vendor relationships (members will complete a brief conflict-of-interest disclosure as part of onboarding)
• A genuine interest in helping IMA protect the trust of its 140,000+ members worldwide
