    ·       Role: Subject Matter Expert (SME) Reviewer 

    ·       Type: Temporary (Project-Based) 

    ·       Compensation: CPE credits

    ·       Reports to: Micro-credential Program Lead 

    ·       Location: Remote (flexible) 

    ·       Turnaround Requirement: Reviews must be completed and returned within 24 hours of assignment. 

     

    About the Role 

    We are seeking experienced members with expertise in advanced data analytics, business intelligence, and decision-support technologies to serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) reviewers for our Advanced Data Analytics micro-credential series.

    This role ensures that all course content meets IMA standards for accuracy, aligns with the IMA Competency Framework, and is professionally relevant for management accounting and finance practitioners. SMEs play a vital role in validating learning outcomes, reviewing applied case studies and examples, and ensuring that all assessments accurately represent real-world professional practice.

    This is a short-term, high-impact volunteer opportunity designed for professionals who want to apply their expertise, influence IMA's learning programs, and earn ICMA Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for their involvement.

     

    Key Responsibilities 

    Content Review:

    ·       Review course modules (Word, PPT, or LMS format) to ensure: 

    ·       Alignment with the IMA Competency Framework and course blueprint. 

    ·       Accuracy of definitions, formulas, examples, and analytics methods (regression, data visualization, machine learning fundamentals) 

    ·       Explanations are clear and accessible for management accounting, business, management, and finance professionals. 

    ·       Examples and applied exercises are realistic, feasible, and connected to learning outcomes. 

    ·       Content is delivered at the correct cognitive level (Bloom's taxonomy). 

    Assessment Review:

    ·       Verify That:

    ·       Each question aligns with the relevant learning objective.

    ·       Question stems are clear and straightforward.

    ·       Answer options are valid and based on realistic applied scenarios.

    Complete structured checklists for every module and assessment reviewed. 

    ·       Provide concise, actionable feedback in comments and suggestions. 

    ·       Meet 24-hour turnaround for assigned reviews. 

     

    Qualifications 

    ·       Active IMA member

    ·       5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

    ·       Advanced Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Data Visualization

    ·       Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) using analytics tools

    ·       Predictive or Prescriptive Analytics for decision support

    ·       Data modeling, dashboarding (Power BI, Tableau), or applied statistics

    ·       Familiarity with management accounting, business decision-making, or financial data interpretation. 

    ·       Experience with adult learning, training programs, or content review is strongly preferred. 

    ·       Strong writing and communication skills; ability to give clear, constructive feedback. 

    ·       Detail-oriented with the ability to identify both technical errors and conceptual gaps. 

    ·       Comfortable working independently under tight deadlines. 

     

    Time Commitment & Workload 

    Training/Onboarding: ~10–12 hours (provided at the start of engagement). 

    Review Time (Post-Training): 

    ·       Short module (5–10 slides or 3–5 pages): ~30–45 minutes. 

    ·       Long module (10–15 slides or 7–10 pages): ~60–90 minutes. 

    ·       Quizzes: +20–30 minutes per 10 questions. 

    ·       Expected capacity: 3–4 modules in bundles, twice a week

     

    CPE Compensation

    ·       ICMA-authorized CPE awarded based on total verified hours contributed.

    ·       CPE credit range: up to 5.0–10.0 CPE per project cycle.

    ·       Volunteers will receive an official ICMA CPE certificate upon completion and may qualify for featured contributor recognition in IMA publications or events.
