And then post an answer to one of the three questions Roselinde said were evidence of and defined leadership in the 21^st century.

• Where are you looking to anticipate the next change to your business model or your life?
• What is the diversity measure of your personal and professional stakeholder network?
• Are you courageous enough to abandon a practice that has made you successful in the past?  (why or why not)

Try to respectfully engage in a discussion thread with at least one other member of the community's answer. Maybe you wonder why they felt the way they did.  Maybe you wanted to know more about a diversity measure they mentioned.  Maybe you'd like to be as courageous as another member and want their advice.  A strength of a leader is being able to connect with others.  This connection will lead to networking, opportunities, learning, and so much more.

Very interesting Ted Talk to consider what's needed to be a leader for tomorrow!

I was especially interested in the second question, "What is the diversity measure of your personal and professional stakeholder network." I teach for a university in Southern Indiana (very close to Louisville, KY). Most of our students and staff and even faculty are from our local community. It's very different from my corporate accounting days working for global or at least regional companies. I'm in a bit of an "academic bubble."

That's part of the reason I have been very active with volunteering with IMA since I switched to teaching full time. It helps diversify my stakeholder network. I started with my local IMA chapter, then my regional council, and have now served on the IMA Global Board and several global committees, including IMA Leadership Academy. It gives me exposure to individuals outside of academia and from diverse areas of the world to model best practices for leadership. It's helped me be a much stronger leader than I would have been otherwise.

Curious, have any of used volunteering for IMA or other organizations or societies to help diversify your stakeholder network?

Thank you for sharing that very interesting Ted Talk! The last question was the one that captured my attention, "Are you courageous enough to abandon a practice that has made you successful in the past? Why or why not?".

I strongly agree that, in order to become a great leader, we must be willing and courageous enough to forsake practices that have made us successful in the past. As we live in a world where there is a rapid change in technological developments and advancements, staying competitive in our respective fields requires continuous innovation. As a leader, it is important that we remain agile at all times, capable of adapting to ever-changing environment and meeting the changing demands of our clients and stakeholders.
