Hey there Harsh,

Taking my part 2 on Monday, so this will be coming from my part 1 experience, where I went in after taking a mock exam and got a 62 (yikes!), spent a good week cramming, and sat down for my actual test. I ended up with a 440 / 500, much better than I expected. 

First - those 15 that you're for sure you got wrong, are you SURE you got them wrong, or you had to take a blind guess? A blind guess is better than nothing, just going off of probability you would have got ~4 correct, and if you were able to knock out one or even 2 answers that were definitely wrong that could jump to 7 or 8 you got correct. In my one experience with the test, I got a lot more right than I thought I did simply by being able to eliminate an answer or two for a big chunk of  questions I had to guess on. If you're a good test taker, I'm willing to bet you did better than you think you did. How did you do on part 1?

Lets break it down... lets say you did the absolute bare minimum to get to the CBQ section, 50/100. Probably pretty unlikely, but it's the worst case scenario. Ignoring the weighting of the questions they do (I dont know how that part actually works, I just heard that they scale the test according to how hard it is. So if you had harder test, you get a little more lenient on how your score is scaled), and assuming you got 80% right on the CBQ, your final score would be ~56%. Unless some REALLY big scaling came in on your favor, it would probably be a fail.  

Being a little more realistic but still conservative, lets say you got 65/100 correct on the MCQ and score stayed the same for CBQ. That brings you to a 68%, which is on the margin for passing.  Not ideal, but with scaling you have a shot at passing.  

Lets say you did as well on the MCQ as you did on the CBQ, 80% on both sides. That's an easy pass at 80%. 

Plugging in 70/100 on MCQ, that brings you to about 72%, which I believe is a pass.  

You know you got 50/100 right at minimum. I'd bet if you were well prepped (sounds like you did well on the CBQ, so you probably were) you probably achieved at least a 70 correct on MCQ, which means you're passing. Likely anything above that you're in the clear, and even if you missed a couple more you'd still be in the passing range.  

If I had to guess I bet you passed. It'll be a nail biter until you get your final score, but if I were in your position I'd be feeling pretty good about my chances.

I think I am sure that I got 11 wrong. There could be more (like 5-6) but I don't recalling anything where I was like just guessing it blindly. I'm fairly uncertain overall, but I expect I got at least around 11 wrong, possibly some more.

I had to guess on 10 questions - very complicated / in depth calculation questions that I ran out of time to think through all the way.  Another 15 or so I had a reasonably good guess on what the answer was, but it was between 2 answers.  I also think I did well on the CBQ portion, I am expecting an 80%. I was a little confused on two of the questions where we have to type in an answer - at the top of the question they say round to the nearest number, but next to the box they said "millions". So I wasn't sure if I was supposed to round to the nearest million, or key in my actual answer to the nearest whole number. I opted to round to the 'million' figure, since keying in "42,120,101" in "millions" wouldn't make sense, I just put 42. I have no idea if that was the correct way to answer the question or not and I did mention the confusing nomenclature in my after test review survey. Not sure if they will ding me for that, but other than those two issues I think I nailed the rest of the CBQ.   

I am feeling optimistic that I passed, but we will see come late August... fingers crossed! Will post an update when I get my results.

Did you take your test in May? I'm hoping with so many people hopping onboard with the CBQs instead of the essays maybe the results will be turned around a bit sooner than 8 weeks but that might be wishful thinking on my part haha

Honestly, I was pretty surprised. I was expecting somewhere around 330–350, maybe 360 maximum. I think the CBQ format helped, but it's also possible that some of the MCQs I got wrong were among the 10 pretest questions. Either way, I'm just happy I passed.

I think it's because of the CBQ format. I was expecting the IMA to start releasing results faster after the September/October window, but if they've already started doing that with the May/June window, then that's really nice.
