Had a situation recently that I think a lot of us deal with, and I'm curious how others here handle it.
I got offered something that was genuinely a great opportunity, honestly the kind of thing I've been hoping for. Problem was, it landed right when my schedule was already packed with other commitments. There was just no way to make it work without dropping something else important.
I didn't want to come across as ungrateful, and I definitely didn't want it to look like I was too full of myself to take on more work. At the same time, saying yes and then doing a bad job because I was stretched too thin felt worse.
So, how do you say no to a senior or colleague without it sounding like a rejection or an ego thing?
