    Hi CMA Community,

I'm currently a CMA and recently earned my CIA certification. I'm now considering pursuing the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification.

Since FRM is somewhat outside my usual comfort zone, I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has followed a similar path. If you've pursued the FRM after CMA/CIA, could you please share your experience and any insights or advice?

    Thank you in advance!

I want to sit for my CMA and CIA licensure because I know that it would open up doors for opportunities beyond measure. Please can you provide some information on the CMA Exam and the CIA Exams.

    Hi Mark,

Thank you for your kind words, and it's great to hear about your interest in both the CMA and CIA.

Both certifications are challenging and can open up many opportunities. The CMA focuses on financial management, performance analysis, and strategic decision-making, while the CIA centers on evaluating and advising on governance, risk management, and internal controls.

In simple terms, it's a change of lens: a CMA is typically involved in preparing and analyzing financial information to support business decisions, whereas a CIA looks at those same processes and reports to assess whether they are reliable, compliant, and well-controlled.

It's also worth noting that both certifications require relevant professional experience to be officially certified. While you may pass the exams beforehand, you will only obtain the certification once the experience requirement is fulfilled, and this needs to be completed within a specified time period set by the respective institutes.

Wishing you the best on your journey-feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

    Best regards,

    Good Morning, Ms. Laila,

You're Welcome.....Thank you for this information, and I will study for this exams soon. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management/ Administration- Accounting (minor). When I started at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), I added Accounting because of my former professor, and she suggested that I get into accounting where I can grow, and the tons of opportunities that I can get, and job opportunities as well.

    Thank you,

    Mark W. Tinsley

P.S. I added you to my LinkedIn page.
