Data, Analytics & AI: A Board-Level Perspective (Training document) for Banking Leaders

Dear all, to kickstart more discussion here, I'm sharing a shortened board- and CFO-level deck from a recent Fit & Proper training for banking management boards, focused on Data Management, Analytics, and AI as management responsibilities rather than IT topics.

For context: in Austria (similar to other jurisdictions), Fit & Proper expectations in Banking boards include such ongoing training for board members.

The material is intended to support constructive board and executive discussions around data quality, governance, decision-usefulness, and oversight - not to promote tools or vendors or technology approaches.
(Shared in the spirit of professional exchange and education, not as a commercial offering.)

I'd be very interested in your perspectives:

    • Where do data issues show up first in your organization - Finance, Risk, Audit, or the Board?

    • Which board-level data questions are currently hardest to answer with confidence?

Looking forward to the discussion here.

    Kind regards from Austria,
    Karl Ivo Sokolov, CMA

Great information and guidance Karl!  Thanks for posting and is very timely.  Our U.S. bank that I work with is actively preparing for its recurring/upcoming U.S. federal regulatory exam and the regulatory oversight and governance environment is certainly active to assess risk, usage, access controls, and data management as you noted is high on the priority list for the exam discussions.  Appreciate your help and thanks also for getting this new SIG going to support/interact with the banking industry and related channels of interest.
