    Hi Rodney

On the topic "Cost Areas Ripe for Tech-Driven Savings" the following comes to mind

    • Accounts Payable & Receivable ==> introduce RPA (robotic process automation), OCR technologies ( Optical character recognition), AI based anomaly detection
    • Budgeting & Forecasting ==> Machine learning models
    • Expense management ==> Expense platforms - AI powered
    • Working capital optimization ==> Supply chain finance, Virtual cards, Factoring, Direct discounts
    • Financial Close ==> ERP,RPA

Thanks for bringing these up, they are actually pillars of opportunity for innovation/process enhancements.

    Regards

    Eashwar

I'll be releasing an AI powered cash flow prediction model through my firm in early November.

Designing, building, and implementing a cash flow prediction application may make an interesting topic.

    Hi Mike

Great initiative!!! not sure this is for commercial purposes or a kind of research project. do let us know.

Just curious on the scope for the cash flow predictions, since there are many solutions available to enhance working capital usage like SCF, virtual cards on the AP side and Factoring on the AR side.

Talking of the creating better payment terms to the suppliers also enhances working capital.

Further, in a multi currency environment the exchange gain/loss also have an impact on the payments/receipts.

I am imagine , there would be lot of design considerations in building the solution. All the very best!!!

    Hi Eashwar:

My understanding is that one of the purposes of this group is to help our membership make sense of the AI chatter they are bombarded with daily, and help them to effectively use the technology.

I build these types of models as MVP's / proof of concept (both for commercial and research purposes) as a way for organizations and individuals to get started with hands on AI projects in a structured and risk controlled way. I just thought that it would make a good article topic as well.

I'm new to the group and perhaps I misunderstood the purpose of the post I responded to.

Of course, there are many applications in accounting / finance for these types of projects that don't require heavy capital investment and can give organizations real AI implementation experience.

I take advantage of Python and its tremendous open source data science ecosystem for my work, with the exception of MS 365 applications on the front end as most users are comfortable with those applications.

You're correct that a currency exchange component / module would need to be incorporated into the predictive model for multi-nationals, but this seems like a simple adaptation that would live 'at the edges' of the primary purpose of using ML to accurately predict working capital / cash for a future period.

I'm looking forward to working with you and the group.

    Thanks,

    Hi Mike

Yes, there needs to be a good starting point to get our hands deep in AI.

Many a times people misunderstand 'process Automation' to be AI, or a deep complex business logic to be AI.

To solve a complex business logic we need a programming to be done by integration of data, business goals, work flows (if multiple parties are involved), core business logic (for automation), data disparity across system.

An example of AI's simplest version would be the predictive nature of suggesting words in Word (for example).

The complex implementation would be chatting with a AI assistant, which in turn spawns multiple AI agents to work (queries) on various sources of data and takes autonomous decisions based of the responses from various AI agents.

The complexity of this implementation would be based on the diversity and extensiveness of the candidate enterprise.

Yes, i agree, there are multiple risks involved in working with AI agents especially, the transparency with which the decisions are taken and how 'human mind' can decipher easily how such decisions are taken.

    Regards

    Eashwar

Also , i have seen discussions , where members confuse RPA (robotic process automation) to be AI, to me RPA is a tool (uses programming languages like python/java)  to build multiple joins across various data sources and creates a unified experience , in terms of reports (multi columnar) and saves times of execution and takes away the complexity  of building the report and execution.
