  • 1.  Carrying over CPE credits

    Posted 01-15-2025 01:05 PM
I earned 40 CPE credits last year for my CMA. I read I was allowed to carry over 10 CPE credits to the next year, and that was why I earned 40 credits, while yearly requirement was 30 credits.

On my IMA dashboard, I see I have 40 credits in 2024, but 10 extra credits are not carried over to 2025. Do I have to do something to carry over 10 credits to this year? I sent this question to IMA three times, but I haven’t received any reply from them.

I live in the Netherlands and called IMA Europe office listed on IMA website just to find out the number is for the reception of the building where IMA is renting but they don’t have a separate phone number. So you cannot reach them at all!

I am really frustrated. I would really appreciate your help.

Even I'm facing the same issue. I had sent an email to the IMA team, there's no response from them yet.

    Hi Machiko,

I was in the same situation 2023/2024. It took a while but eventually I received this response from Alexa Lavecchia (Member Services Representative):

"...  Please note that the transcript gauge within your profile only calculates the current year of CPEs earned. When a Certified member completes more than 30 hours in a given year, up to 10 hours will carry forward to the next year. The CPE gauge does not indicate any carryover. That is up to the member to keep track of. ..."

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Leandra

    Hi All,

The system doesn't do it automatically because IMA Corporate doesn't track it from there, so you can adjust it yourself for tracking.

Go in and enter a "New Transcript"

     - date it 01.01.20XX

     - add the number of carry-over credits (2, 5, 10, etc), and

     - describe it as such in the description "Carry over credits from 20XX for tracking purposes".

Just make sure your numbers are right.  It would be bummer to have your certification inactivated because you miscounted.  Plus, math is kind of our thing.  =)

    Hope this helps!

    Leandro& Tabatha,

Thank you so much for your reply. Now I feel better knowing I didn't earn extra 10 credits in vain.
