I want to take a moment to highlight Mary T. Washington Wylie. Mrs. Washington-Wylie became the 1st Black Female CPA in the United States in 1943. She was the 13th Black CPA. She was inducted as the 124th member of the Accounting Hall of Fame last August at the American Accounting Association's annual meeting held in Chicago, IL
The Illinois CPA Society honors her legacy with the Mary T Washington Wylie Internship Preparation Program. The program offers a wealth of information and resources to Illinois college students interested in majoring in accounting.
