Hi All,
Not as catchy a title this time, but hopefully to the point. IMA's
global board meeting February 23-27 focused on financial health,
strategy and community/culture which will allow IMA to sustain its
growth, influence and respect in better serving the global profession.
In light of the competitive challenges, we need to "raise our game,
raise the bar" in all areas.
Regarding financial health, we have several consecutive years of
operating surpluses and record growth in CMAs and CMA candidates. For
the first time in over two decades, we have grown membership in the U.S.
where the association was born over nine decades ago. Financial health
allows IMA to invest in member-enhancing value, which includes a
leadership academy (courseware and mentoring), webinars (free to
members), practical research and much more.
Regarding strategy, our long-range strategic plan is working as
evidenced by our financial and cultural health. But, in the face of a
challenging competitive environment, we must innovate on a sustained
basis and we have many new products under development which will enrich
careers and organizational capability. Stay tuned! Innovation is all
about unleashing our creativity on behalf of you, our valued members.
Partnerships that serve our mission and expand our reach, such as the
research partnership with ACCA, will continue to evolve. And, last but
not least, ...
Community
and Culture. In many ways, community and culture may well be IMA's
most significant asset and competitive advantage. There has been
significant growth in revitalized US chapters, and new student and
international chapters (180+ US chapters, 80+ student chapters, 20+
international chapters). During our recent board meeting, the board
established a set of core values for volunteers and staff which will be
our guideposts for all we do in serving individuals and society.
Thanks,
Jeff
